Celebrating Slow: a Day Retreat

Gift Yourself a Day of Yoga

Modern life often moves at a fast pace. At times it feels we are being asked to operate at the speed of machinery or technology. Smart phones enable us to be instantly connected and constantly stimulated. Yet our nervous systems aren't designed to live this way all the time.

There comes a point where constant speed simply isn't sustainable.

We need moments where we can slow down our accelerated pace, where we can tune into the rhythm of nature which we are a part of. As we dial down our speed we dial up our awareness, being better able to open to the life before us rather than it racing past us.

In the words of Pico Iyer (from his book The Art of Stillness)

“In an age of speed, I began to think, nothing could be more invigorating than going slow.

In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention.

And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.”

If these words strike a chord, then this is the day for you.

Set in the beautiful Oak House Studio in the grounds of Hatfield House we will set aside a whole day to slow down and then soak up deep rest in stillness.

Morning practice
The morning practice will consist of slow, mindful flowing yoga to ease tension in the body while calming our mind.

Lunch
The day includes a delicious, nutritious lunch.

Mindful walk
After lunch we will take a mindful walk around the beautiful grounds of Hatfield House.

Afternoon practice
We will then close with an extended restorative yoga and yoga nidra practice to drop into stillness and deep rest.
