Starting October 2025 | Live Online
Friday mornings 10.00 - 12.00 | 3rd October, 31st October, 28th November 2025 & 9th January 2026
Join me and a collection of like-minded teachers, exploring themes covered in my book Weaving Mindfulness and Compassion into Yoga Teaching.
Why a Book Club?
While it can be lovely to sit down alone to absorb a good book, sometimes it’s even better to gather with like-minded souls to share thoughts on how the book is:
firing you up
offering inspiration
bringing up questions
inspiring action
In my own experience (and what I hear from many teachers) is that while we love teaching as a profession, we can often feel quite isolated. Opportunities to gather collectively can feel precious and nourishing. I know for myself that when this happens it often re-ignites my passion for my teaching and a sense of being in the midst of a caring collective of teachers (rather than feeling competitively pitched against each other, as can sometimes be the perception from social media).
The Book Club offers an opportunity to explore themes covered in the book collectively. It offers space to ponder and share how we plan to bring the themes into action in our practice and teaching. It enables us to hear new voices, make connections, gain new insights and consider different viewpoints as we read together and learn from each other.
How does it work?
Each Book Club group is a closed group (max 12 participants) who gather for 4 sessions over a period of 4 months. This gives us time not only to read the book, but also to explore how we can implement themes explored into our practice and teaching.
Participants are asked to buy Weaving Mindfulness & Compassion into Yoga Teaching and have read the relevant chapters before each session.
SESSION 1 will explore Chapter 1: Why Mindfulness and Compassion | Deepening our understanding of what mindfulness and compassion are, how they interlink with yoga and how we can bring these qualities into our personal practice.
SESSION 2 will explore Chapter 2: Supporting Ourselves as Teachers | Considering how we can bring mindfulness and compassion into our own lives to support our wellbeing and sustainability as yoga teachers.
SESSION 3 will explore Chapter 3: Mindful, Compassionate Teaching | Considering ways of bringing mindfulness and compassion into the foreground of our teaching in service of our students.
SESSION 4 offers space to consolidate what participants have gained over the 4 months of shared reading and reflection and ways of continuing to carry the learning forward.
Each session consists of:
A 30 – 45 minute guided yoga / meditation practice.
Small discussion groups on reflection points.
Full discussion group (sharing reflections, suggestions & questions).
Between sessions participants will be offered:
Guided reflections and reflections log to bring a quality of inquiry into personal practice and teaching.
A range of short-recorded practices to dip into (downloadable for lifetime access).
Who is it for?
The Book Club is open to yoga teachers, yoga therapists and yoga teachers in training.
