Sustainability & Self Care for Yoga Teachers
with Anna Taylor & Norman Blair
Why self-care?
Teaching yoga is deeply rewarding, but also comes with challenges. We often work alone, juggle unpaid hours of planning, travel, marketing and admin. Burn out is common.
Prioritising self-care helps create a more sustainable way of teaching through the natural ups and downs of the profession. It’s about making small, meaningful changes that support you without adding more pressure or cost.
“If we are to bring light and wisdom and compassion into this world, we must first begin with ourselves.”
Jack Kornfield, A Path With Heart
Who is this for?
These courses are open to all yoga teachers (both new and experience ) and teachers in training.
What will you gain?
Through these courses, you will have time to put self-care and self-compassion centre-stage to:
gather in person with other yoga teachers to share openly and honestly in a non-judgmental space
explore what self-care and self-compassion mean and the barriers we can face within yoga teaching
learn practical tools to feel more grounded, resourced and resilient through the ups and downs of teaching
discover ways to weave self-care into your working life, including scheduling, finances, managing the inner critic, and building supportive connections
experience restorative practices that nourish and nurture, and reconnect you with what you love about teaching
reflect on your own needs
create a personal self-care action plan
receive a workbook with practical suggestions, reflection space, and guidance to support your long-term sustainability and wellbeing
Self-care is about more the resting on bolsters and soaking in bubble baths.
It is a courageous commitment to ensuring that our own needs aren’t sidelined by teaching.

Norman Blair
Norman began practising yoga in the early 1990s and he has been teaching since 2001. His practice and teaching embrace both Ashtanga yoga and Yin yoga as well as mindfulness meditation. Through significant periods of training with teachers such as Alaric Newcombe, Judith Hanson Lasater, Richard Freeman and Sarah Powers, he has gained the Yoga Alliance 500 hour accreditation. He believes that yoga is accessible to all of us and through regular practice we can experience profound changes in our mind and body. His own experience has taught him that yoga is an enjoyable way to release and make available energetic potential to enhance our lives. Yoga can help us to become more flexible, physically stronger and improve our stamina, focus and awareness.
Norman teaches intuitive/dynamic flow yoga and Yin yoga classes and workshops throughout London, as well as leading retreats. His Yin yoga training courses are respected and popular. He has run yoga teacher mentoring groups for more than ten years.
